“Discourse & Communication”: nova revista

“The time has come – observa van Dijk no editorial – to construct an official bridge after the many individual contacts, mostly of communication scholars interested in discourse analysis. The new journal Discourse & Communication will function as such an institutional bridge between these two disciplines, which each are represented in many other fields in the humanities and the social sciences but hardly have mutual contact”.

“For instance, news reports or editorials in the press not only need analysis of argumentation, rhetoric or a semantic analysis of event and action description – among many other approaches – but also a study of their institutional production, news gathering, the cooperation of various journalists and their sources, editorial meetings, and many other aspects of their contexts so far largely ignored in much discourse analysis.”

Neste primeiro número, destaco dois textos:

– Sonia Livingstone, Peter Lunt, and Laura Miller, Citizens, consumers and the citizen-consumer: articulating the citizen interest in media and communications regulation;

– Theo Van Leeuwen, Legitimation in discourse and communication.
