Já está disponível o programa definitivo do Simpósio Internacional sobre Jornalismo Digital da Universidade do Texas, em Austion (EUA), que vai decorrer em 30 e 31 deste m~es. Esta iniciativa anualmente promovida pela Knight Chair in Journalism e pela UNESCO Chair in Communication daquela instituição norte-americana, cujo titular é o brasileiro Rosental Calman Alves, vai já na oitava edição. E, como de costume, proporcionará a possibilidade de seguir o evento através de webcast. De resto, o site do Simpósio constitui um repositório fundamental para acompanhar a evolução do jornalismo em rede neste início do século XXI.

A intervenção de abertura caberá ao professor e blogger Jeff Jarvis e terá por título “The end of the mourning, mewling, and moaning about the future of journalism: Why I’m a cock-eyed optimist about news”
De entre os temas do programa deste ano, que dará particular atenção às mudanças em curso no jornalismo, destacam-se os tópicos seguintes:

• The transformation of newspaper to multimedia news organization – the merging of online-print newsrooms and the challenges of a continuous news flow
• The transformation of business models – how the online audience and revenues are changing how newspapers do business
• The transformation of journalism from monologue to conversation – citizens’ participation in news production and dissemination
• The transformation of journalism on a flat world – international perspectives on online journalism
• The transformation of storytelling techniques – how video and interactive features are changing news production routines
• Strategic positioning in the new media environment
• New journalistic forms and new journalists
• Journalism online: how content is affected.
